Volleyball Sweeps LIU to Close Cherry & White Challenge

9.4.21 | Women's Volleyball

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple volleyball team notched its first sweep of the season, downing visiting Long Island University, 3-0, to close out the action at the 2021 Hilton Philadelphia at Penn's Landing Cherry & White Challenge. The Owls won in straight sets, 25-20, 25-19, 25-18 to move to 2-3 on the season, while LIU falls to 1-5.

Quotable: Head Coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam
> "We wanted to communicate better and work together as a team, not like individual players on the court. I thought we did a good job being more cohesive. We tried to get some of the younger players in today to give them an opportunity to go through this experience early in the season, and I thought they did a good job."
> "The mix has to be right for us, we can't just do it with young players and we can't just do it with the senior players. Today, Jaaliyah had the opportunity to start because of the work she's put in since she's gotten to campus, and she really deserved it and took full advantage of it."
> "We did some really good things against Maryland, especially considering we have 11 underclassmen. So today, we were more consistent with less ups and downs and it was a really good team performance."
