Damian Dunn, Jahlil White Earn Weekly Conference Honors

PHILADELPHIA – Damian Dunn and Jahlil White have been named American Athletic Conference Co-Player and Rookie Week, respectively for the week ending January 9.
Dunn, who also was named Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week, had two game-winning three-pointers to lead Temple men's basketball to a 2-0 week. It is his second Big 5 Player of the Week honor this season and fourth of his career. It is his first AAC Player of the Week honor, but he did earn two AAC Rookie of the Week honors in 2020-21. He shares the AAC honor with Josh Carlton from Houston.
The Kinston, N.C. native averaged 24.5 points and 3.5 rebounds for the week. He scored 16 points and hit game-winning three-pointer with seven seconds left in 66-62 win at UCF (1/5). The Owl guard followed that with a career-high 33 points and game-winning three at the buzzer in 78-75 win over ECU (1/8). On the week, he shot a blistering 15-of-27 from the field (55.6%), five-of-10 from three (50%) and 14of-16 from the line (87.5%).
Dunn currently leads Temple and ranks eighth in the AAC in scoring at 15.1 ppg. He also leads the Owls in free throw percentage (61-72, .847) and is tied for the team lead in rebounding (4.7 rpg).
White, who earns his first Rookie of the Week citation, averaged 13,0 ppg and 5.5 rpg last week for the Owls. The Whitesboro, N.J. native had a career and game high 17 points on seven-of-nine shooting from the field in Temple's win over UCF. He then scored nine points and had a team-high six rebounds in the win over ECU.
Temple (9-6, 2-2 AAC) travels to Tulsa (6-7, 0-2 AAC) for a Wednesday clash with the Golden Hurricane (7 pm/ESPNU/1210 AM WPHT).
