1.14.22 | Football
PHILADELPHIA – Stan Drayton continues to add to his initial coaching staff, announcing the new additions to the offensive side. Danny Langsdorf has been named Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach, Chris Wiesehan has been named Offensive Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator, and Adam Scheier has been named Special Teams Coordinator and Tight Ends Coach. In addition, Preston Brown is moving from Director of Player Personnel to Running Backs Coach, and Thad Ward has been retained as Wide Receivers Coach / Pass Game Coordinator.
"I really like the composition of the offensive staff," said Drayton. "They have all had success at different places and will have a good mix of strategies and ideas. All are strong recruiters and some have already had success here at Temple."
Langsdorf has 25 years of offensive coaching experience at the collegiate and professional level. He has 16 years of Power 5 Conference experience, including 12 as an offensive coordinator. His previous stop was at Colorado (Passing Game Coordinator/QBs, 2020-21), where the Buffaloes ranked first in the Pac-12 last season in red zone offense and third in the country. Langsdorf has previously coached collegiately at UNLV (2020), Fresno State (2019), Oregon (2018), Nebraska (2015-17), Oregon State (1997-98, 2005-13), and California Lutheran (1997). In addition, the McMinnville, Ore., native has coached professionally with the New York Giants (2014), New Orleans Saints (2002-04), and Edmonton (CFL,1999-2001).
"I'm very excited to be at Temple," said Langsdorf. "They have a great history and tradition of winning. I'm thankful and appreciative of Coach Drayton, and I look forward to building relationships, a winning culture, and a winning team."
Wiesehan makes his return to 10th and Diamond after previously coaching at Temple from 2013-2018. The St. Louis, Miss., native is known as one of the nation's most versatile offensive coaches, having tutored all positions with the exception of quarterback. He is a 27-year coaching veteran, and spent the last three seasons at Georgia Tech. In addition to his five years at Temple, his resume includes stints with Hawai'i (2012-13), the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2010-11), UCLA (2009), Syracuse (2007-08), James Madison (2006), the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2005), Northern Arizona (2001-04), Buffalo (1999-2000), Notre Dame (1997-98), Purdue (1996) and Fort Hays State (1994-95).
"My family is really excited to be back to Temple, and Philadelphia specifically, to get to see our friends in Fishtown and over in Northern Liberties," said Wiesehan. "I'm excited about the vision that Coach Drayton has for this program and getting ready to go attack the AAC."
Scheier brings 26 years of collegiate coaching experience into 2022, including the last 22 working with special teams. Before coming to Temple, the Bronx, N.Y., native coached at Rutgers (2020-21), Mississippi State (2019), Texas Tech (2018), Ohio State (2017), Wake Forest (2014-16), Bowling Green (2009-13), Lehigh (2002-08), Princeton (2000-01), Columbia (1997-99), and Dartmouth (1996).
"I'm really excited to have the opportunity to be a part of Coach Drayton's staff," said Scheier. "I've heard nothing but great things about him from so many people in the profession. I'm excited to be at Temple, and in the city of Philadelphia. This city holds a special place in my heart, so I'm excited to represent Temple, represent the city of Philadelphia, and bring that Temple TUFF mentality back to this program."
