PHILADELPHIA – In one of his first moves as Temple Football head coach, Stan Drayton announced today two additions to his initial staff. Everett Withers has been named Chief of Staff and Tory Teykl (pronounced TAKE-ul) has been named Director of Football Operations.
Withers has over 30 years of coaching experience at both the collegiate and NFL level. He also has served as head coach at Texas State and James Madison.
"Everett has a wealth of knowledge in building a successful, winning football program," said Drayton. "He's been a trusted confidant for many years and I look forward to working side-by-side to rebuild Temple into the program I know it could and should be."
"I'm very excited to come to Temple to work with Coach Drayton, and his vision and passion for what this program can and will be is exciting to all of us," said Withers. "I'm very excited to get the opportunity to get back with Stan and have the opportunity to build something special."
Withers came to Temple after serving the 2021 season as assistant head coach for FIU football under Butch Davis. He also served as the defensive coordinator and oversaw the secondary. The Charlotte, N.C., native has served as a head coach at Texas State (2016-18), FCS powerhouse James Madison (2014-15) and UNC (2011), while also making additional prominent stops as an assistant coach with Louisville, Minnesota, Ohio State, Southern Miss, and Austin Peay in the college ranks. In the NFL, Withers has coached with the Saints, Titans and most recently in 2019 with the Giants.
Teykl spent the past nine seasons in football operation for Houston (2013-16), Texas (2017-19) and most recently Kansas (2020-21). She will handle all daily operations and communications within the football program and also manage all team travel, student-athlete housing and develop game day itineraries for home, away and bowl games, among other responsibilities.
"Tory has experience handling daily operations at the highest levels of college football," said Drayton. "I know that the football operations director is the heartbeat of any program, and I trust that Tory is the right person for us."
"With previous experience working in the American," said Teykl, "I'm extremely excited to get back to this league, and especially at Temple, that has such a strong and rich history of winning. And Coach Drayton, I can't honestly say enough about him. His true focus is student-athletes, and building those relationships is something I believe in. I'm extremely excited and humbled for this opportunity to come to work here with him."
Teyki is a graduate of Texas A&M, where she earned her master of science in sport management and her bachelor of business administration and marketing. Following graduation, she began a seven-year career at Houston. When Tom Herman left Houston for Texas, he hired Tekyi as director of football operations. It was in her role with the Longhorns that Tekyi first worked with Drayton and Temple vice president and director of athletics, Arthur Johnson.
