PHILADELPHIA - The NFL kicked off Thanksgiving Day with some former Owls playing in all three games.
To begin the Thanksgiving festivities, Dion Dawkins (2013-16), Tyler Matakevich (2012-15), and the Buffalo Bills faced off against the Detroit Lions. Dawkins and the Bills offense scored 28 points, accrued over 400 total yards, and had over 30 minutes of possession, propelling them to win, 28-25. Matakevich also contributed a season-high two tackles.
The Thanksgiving afternoon game between the New York Giants and NFC East division rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, set the record for the most-watched NFL regular season game with 42 million viewers. Chris Myarick (2016-18), Quincy Roche (2016-19), and the New York Giants were unable to get back in the win column, as they would lose, 28-20. Myarick still contributed one reception for a career-high 23 yards.
On Thanksgiving evening, William Kwenkeu (2016-21) was activated for his first game with the Minnesota Vikings. Kwenkeu and the Vikings would win in a high-scoring affair, 33-26.
With P.J. Walker (2013-16) and Matt Ioannidis (2012-15) still sidelined with injuries, former Owls - Sean Chandler (2014-17), Sam Franklin (2016-19), and the Carolina Panthers went up against Brandon McManus (2009-12), Jacob Martin (2014-17), and the Denver Broncos. The Carolina Panthers would win, 23-10. Franklin had a season-high five tackles and one-tackle-for-loss, while Chandler had one tackle. Martin had one tackle for the Broncos and McManus scored four points (one FG and one PAT).
Rock Ya-Sin (2018) and the Las Vegas Raiders continued their momentum from last week's win, as they defeated the Seattle Seahawks, 40-34 in overtime. Ya-sin contributed four tackles.
On Sunday night, Hassan Reddick (2013-16), Shaun Bradley (2016-19), and the Philadelphia Eagles defeated Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, 40-33, becoming the first NFL team to reach 10 wins this season. Reddick had four tackles, half a sack, and one quarterback hit, while Bradley had one tackle.
Arnold Ebiketie (2017-20), Matt Hennessy (2016-19), and the Atlanta Falcons lost to the Washington Commanders, 19-13. Ebiketie still reeled in two tackles and one quarterback hit.
Robbie Anderson (2011-13, 2015), Michael Dogbe (2014-18), and the Arizona Cardinals lost a close one to the Los Angeles Chargers, 25-24. Anderson had one reception for 17 yards.
