Quinn Nicolai Named AAC Midfielder of the Week
2.21.22 | Women's Lacrosse
IRVING, Texas- After two straight wins against Big 5 rivals this week, midfielder Quinn Nicolai has been named AAC Midfielder of the Week. It is the first time she has been honored with a weekly award since being named Big Ten Freshman of the Week in 2018 during her time at Penn State.
Nicolai had two spectacular games this week. Against Villanova on Wednesday, she tied her career-high with five goals, passed for an assist, and picked up four ground balls. Saturday against Saint Joseph's she was even better, scoring a career-high seven goals. Her seven goals are also the most of any Temple player since 2018. Nicolai also controlled a draw, caused a turnover, and scooped three more ground balls. She currently leads the AAC and is tied for third in the nation in goals with 15. She is also 5th nationally in Expected Goals Added, an advanced metric calculating total value added per win.
The Owls will be back in action as they travel to No. 11 Princeton on Saturday. The ranked match-up will be played at Class of 1952 stadium on the Princeton campus at noon. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
