PHILADELPHIA – Temple Football head coach Stan Drayton announced today that Jafar Williams has joined his staff as Wide Receivers Coach and Pass Game Coordinator.

Williams is a Philadelphia native, who played his high school ball at George Washington where he was an all-city, all-metro and all-area selection as a senior team captain in 1998.

He has coached stops for 15 years before finding his way back to Philadelphia.

"What a great opportunity for us to bring Jafar home to Philadelphia," said Drayton. "He is an outstanding coach whose units have produced everywhere he has been."

"I am so grateful to Coach Drayton for asking me to be a part of his staff here at Temple," said Williams. "I know the program very well, being my hometown team. I can't wait to begin working with this staff and these young men."

Williams began his coaching career as passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa. in 2005, and has been rising through the coaching ranks ever since. He has worked at numerous stops in his career with stints at Kent State (2011-12), Purdue (2013-15), Rutgers (2016-17), Maryland (2018), and Virginia Tech (2019-21) over the last decade.  Along the way he has coached wide receivers, running backs and special teams.
