PHILADELPHIA – No. 18 Temple lacrosse (5-2) dropped to the visiting No. 13 Rutgers Scarlet Knights (7-0) by a score of 15-9 on Wednesday night. Despite an early lead from the Cherry and White, Rutgers rode impressive second and third quarters to claim the victory. Attacker Mackenzie Roth lit up the stat sheet with a career-high five assists.

Recapping the Game 
> Temple struck first with a goal from junior Julie Schickling. Rutgers countered with a goal of their own to tie things up at one.  
> The Owls scored the next goals, with strikes from Quinn Nicolai and Belle Mastropietro. Roth assisted on both scores (3-1).
> The Scarlet Knights scored four goals in the final 2:19 of the first quarter to go up 5-3.
> Temple scored first in the second frame on a goal from Abaigeal Ryan, Roth assisted for her third helper of the night.
> Rutgers scored five straight to stretch its lead to 10-4. Temple found the back of the net for the final tally of the quarter.
> The Scarlet Knights scored three goals in the third quarter.
> Mastropietro attempted to lead an Owl comeback in the final frame. She scored all four of Temple's goals, with assists from Roth (her fifth of the night) and Camryn Zavacky.
> Despite cutting into the lead, Rutgers came away with the win, 15-9.

Statistically Speaking
> Mastropietro tied for the game-high with five goals, one short of her career-high. She also passed for an assist, scooped two ground balls, and controlled five draws.
> Roth had a fantastic night. She passed for a career-high five assists, tied for the third-most in a single game in Temple history.
> Schickling scored two goals, Nicolai found the back of the net once alongside Ryan.
> Ryan, Schickling, and Zavacky all scored once.
> Zavacky passed for one assist and tied for the game-high with six draw controls.
> Katie Shallow paced the team in caused turnovers (2) and tied for the team lead in ground balls (3). Annie Carroll also picked up three ground balls. Four players scooped two ground balls.
