Men’s Tennis Set to Travel to No. 49 Tulsa to Close out Regular Season Play

PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's tennis (12-8) is set to travel to Oklahoma to face off against American Athletic Conference opponent, Tulsa (12-9) on Sunday, Apr. 17. The match is set to kickoff of 6 p.m. ET. 
 
The Owls 
  • The Owls enter the match coming off a big win against St. Johns, where they edged out the Red Storm, 4-2. Louis Gorregues was a standout for the Owls, securing the fourth team point in a three-set singles competition, beating his opponent 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 for the Cherry and White win. 
  • Temple is led by Marin Delmas, who has claimed the No. 1 singles spot for the Owls. Delmas has posted a 12-4 record which includes an 11-4 mark from the No. 1 spot and a 1-0 mark from the No. 2 spot. 
  • Delmas has also shown his dominance in doubles play with Gorregues. The duo has posted a 19-6 overall mark, which includes a 9-4 showing in dual play and a 10-2 mark in tournament play. 
Scouting the Golden Hurricane 
  • Tulsa enters the match with a 12-9 record to sit at No. 49 in the ITA National Rankings. Four of their wins have come over highly ranked opponents, including No. 45 Oregon, No. 35 Oklahoma, No. 54 Denver and No. 18 Pepperdine. 
  • On an individual level, Kody Pearson has been a standout for the Golden Hurricane, clocking in at No. 87 nationally. Pearson, who plays in the No. 1 spot, has posted an 11-4 mark in dual play for the second most singles wins on the team.  
  • Pearson's success does not stop there, as he and partner Connor Di Marco are ranked No. 75 in the ITA Doubles Rankings, accruing a 7-3 dual record, all which have come from the No. 1 position. 
Match Notes 
  • The Owls are 1-3 all-time against the Golden Hurricane, with their last matchup coming on Apr. 7, 2021, where the Temple dropped to Tulsa, 6-1.
