TULSA, Okla. – Temple men's tennis (12-10) dropped to first-seeded and nationally ranked, No. 26 SMU (20-6) in the AAC Quarterfinals on Friday morning. The Owls, who entered the tournament as the eighth seed fought until the very last point, but the Mustangs prevailed in a 6-4, 6-4 victory from the No. 5 spot. 
 
Notes 
  • The Owls entered doubles play with energy, splitting the first two positions with an even 1-1 performance, dropping from the No. 1 spot before earning the win from the No. 2 position. 
  • Gregoire Barety and Hussein El-Tawil engaged in a back-and-forth battle against the talented pair of Ivan Thamma and Caleb Chakravarthi of SMU from the No. 3 spot, but ultimately dropped 6-3. 
  • The Mustangs added to their early advantage with wins from the No. 2 and No. 4 spot in singles play, but they were soon halted by a standout performance from Marin Delmas in the No. 1 position. Delmas downed Adam Neff of SMU in straight sets, 7-6(3), 6-0 to put the Owls on the board. 
  • Thibault Frumholz added to the Owl momentum, securing a three-set victory from the No. 6 spot, closing in on the Mustang lead. 
  • The No. 5 position was the last position left to play, with standout sophomore Gregoire Barety putting on an extremely competitive showing against Julian Steinhausen, but was edged just slightly, 6-4, 6-4.
