5.2.22 | Women's Lacrosse

IRVING, Texas- After hammering Old Dominion 17-7 on Saturday, three Owls were awarded AAC Weekly Honors. Quinn Nicolai has been awarded AAC Midfielder of the Week, Katie Shallow was named AAC Defender of the Week, and Belle Mastropietro was named to the Weekly Honor Roll. This is the fourth time this season Nicolai has earned an AAC Weekly Honor and the second time in three weeks she has won Midfielder of the Week. For Shallow, it is the first time she has been honored this season after being named Preseason All-Conference. Shallow was named Freshman of the Week once last season, and was named to the AAC All-Tournament Team in 2021. For Mastropietro, this her ninth time this season winning a weekly award this season out a possible 12 weeks.

Nicolai scored four goals for Temple, tying for the team lead. Nicolai also scooped four ground balls (tying her season high) and caused two turnovers. Her final goal of the contest was the 50th of her season. She is the first Temple player to score at least 50 goals in a season since Tiffany Pulaski in 2004. She is top six in the American in both goals and ground balls.

Katie Shallow was a menace on defense. The sophomore picked up five ground balls and caused three turnovers. She also controlled five draw controls and was the leader of a defensive effort that limited Old Dominion to just one goal in the second half.

Mastropietro scored one and passed for three assists. She also racked up 11 draw controls to move to 96 controls on the season, shattering the previous single-season record for draw controls (87). Her 11 controls are the second most of any player in the American in a single game this season. The top four single game draw control performances belong to her.

Temple heads to Greenville, N.C. for the American Athletic Conference tournament. Temple is the two seed in the tournament, they will face Vanderbilt in the first round starting at approximately 7:45 pm. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
