Volleyball Falls in Three to No. 20 Kansas to Open Black Knight Invitational

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Temple Owls volleyball team fell to No. 20 Kansas Jayhawks on Friday during their first match of the Black Knight Invitational inside Gillis Field House by the score of 0-3 (15-25, 19-25, 17-25).
The loss drops the Owls to 1-2 on the young season, while the nationally-ranked Jayhawks move to 4-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Jayhawks led the majority of the match, allowing Temple to take the lead just once in the three sets.
- Kansas had four players with five or more kills, including Anezka Szabo and Ayah Elnady with a match-high seven.
- Temple hit .065, while Kansas hit .341 for themselves in the win.
- TU's trio of Taylor Davenport, Peyton Boyd and Jelena Prolic had six kills apiece in the match.
Set 1
- The Jayhawks hit .385 as a team in the first set, while holding the Cherry and White to .057.
- Kansas jumped out to a 6-0 lead before the Owls scored their first point of the match.
- Elnady and Szabo connected on four kills apiece in the first set, 25-15, Kansas win.
- Temple's Prolic led the Owls with four kills in the first stanza while hitting .429.
Set 2
- There were two lead changes and seven ties in set two, all before either team could reach the seven-point mark.
- With the score tied at eight early in the second set, Kansas reeled off four-straight points to push their advantage to 12-8. The Jayhawks never looked back and won the set, 25-19.
- Temple held KU to a .194 hitting percentage in set two. Prolic and Boyd had two blocks apiece during the middle set for the Owls.
Set 3
- Just like set two, in the third set, both teams played tight volleyball through the first 10 points, With the set tied at 5-5, Kansas scored four unanswered points to make it 9-5.
- Later in the set with the score 18-10 in favor of the Jayhawks, Boyd connected with two straight service aces, her only two of the match.
