9.21.22 | Men's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA - The American Athletic Conference announced its 2022-23 men's basketball schedule today and Temple will open its 18-game conference slate on the road game against East Carolina on Dec. 28. The Owls' AAC home opener will be on New Year's Day against Cincinnati.
The conference also announced the television schedule for the league with Temple being televised at least 28 times on ESPN platforms, including all 18 AAC games. The Owls will appear on ESPNU seven times (Villanova, Rutgers, St. John's, VCU, Saint Joseph's, UCF, Tulsa), ESPN2 four times (Richmond/Syracuse, Memphis, Houston, at Memphis) and ESPN+ 14 times. Also, three Temple games were selected as flex games, with ESPN's option to put on either ESPN2 or ESPNU (both Cincinnati games and UCF).
Besides its home AAC opener with the Bearcats, Temple will host four other conference opponents in the month of January with Tulane (Jan. 7), Memphis (Jan. 15), East Carolina (Jan. 18) and South Florida (Jan. 25) all making the trip to Philadelphia. The Owls will travel to South Florida (Jan. 4), Tulsa (Jan. 10), Houston (Jan. 22) and UCF (Jan. 28) during the month.
February provides a perfect balance with three home (Houston-Feb. 5; Wichita State-Feb. 16; Tulsa-Feb. 19) and three road games (SMU-Feb. 8; Memphis-Feb. 12; Cincinnati-Feb. 22).
Temple closes out the regular season with its home finale against UCF (Mar. 2) and a road trip to Tulane (Mar. 5).
The 2023 American Athletic Conference Championship will once again be held at Dickie's Arena in Fort Worth, Texas from March 9-12.
