Men's Soccer Season Ends With 2-1 Loss to No. 3 SMU

Xavier Rimpel netted Temple's lone goal.
DALLAS, Tex. - The Temple men's soccer team closed the 2023 season on Wednesday night, falling 2-1 to No. 3 SMU in Dallas. The loss coupled with South Florida's win over FAU officially eliminated the Owls from postseason contention.
How it Happened
> SMU got on the board early, scoring in the 15th minute.
> The Temple defense limited the Mustangs to just one shot on goal the rest of the half, with Andrew Kempe making the save.
> SMU made it 2-0 with a goal less than three minutes after the start of the second half.
> Xavier Rimpel scored his first goal of the year and the first of his collegiate career in the 64th minute, bending a close range shot past the reach of the Mustangs goalie.
