Hampton-Keith Announces Jones, Greene to 2024 Recruiting Class
11.13.23 | Women's Volleyball
PHILADELPHIA - On Thursday, Temple Volleyball Head Coach announced the signing of recruits Sydney Jones and Christiana Greene to the class of 2024.
Â
"I am thrilled to announce our signing class of 2024. The addition of Sydney Jones and Christiana Greene will impact our program immediately. The most exciting part of their addition is that they both are choosing to graduate high school early and enroll this coming Spring. This is game changing for both our program and them individually." said Hampton-Keith. "One of the toughest transitions to make is jumping into a competitive season in your freshman year while also trying to adjust to a new life away from home and managing new academic rigors. Their enrollment this Spring will not only help them with that transition, but it will also help our program continue to build on our foundation with them as a part of the fabric of our future.
Â
These two athletes will anchor our 2024 class and will be such strong additions to our future. They will be solid foundations on which we will continue to build. We are thrilled to welcome them both to Temple!"Â

"One of the first recruits our staff identified when we got here was local standout, Sydney Jones. We knew immediately that she was an athlete that could impact our future quickly and fit well into our vision for where we want Temple Volleyball to be. Her explosive athleticism and ability to play at a high level is so impressive and we cannot wait to work with her this spring." Â
Â
Jones is a 6'2 outside hitter from Havertown, Pa. and will join the Owls after four years at Haverford High School. With the Fords, Jones was a versatile athlete playing both volleyball and track and field. In her last three seasons with the volleyball team, the Haverford squad would finish the season in the top 25 of the district, including her senior season where it would finish fourth with a 20-4 overall record. Along with volleyball, Jones has been a jumper on the track squad, earning All-Central League First Team, a 5'6 school record in the high jump as a junior, and a second-place finish at the state championship meet the same season.
Â
Outside of athletics Jones is a member of the AACE Club, the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and will major in biology.

Â
"Christiana is such an exciting athlete to watch play. She jumps high, hits hard and loves to compete. She has won multiple state titles in South Carolina and those experiences have helped her grow into a gritty, resilient player who leads her teams to step up to the challenges in front of them. Her commitment to become the best will serve our team immediately as I expect her to learn quickly and impact immediately.Â
Â
Greene joins Temple after playing at Cardinal Newman High School in Columbia, S.C. where the 5'10 outside hitter has long list of accomplishments in her scholastic career including a, 2023 AVCA High School American Second Team, Under Armour Next 2023, AVCA Phenom Watchlist 2022 and 2023, the 2023 Region Player of the Year and All-South Carolina, and a state champion in 2020, 2022-23. As team captain in her senior season, Greene was ranked in the state of South Carolina in kills. She earned her 1,000th career kill, on her way to breaking the single-season Blackbirds' kills record.
Â
Off the court, Greene is a student council representative, Secretary of the Black Students Union, a member of the Frassati program, and will major in kinesiology.
