HONOLULU – The Temple University men's basketball team continued its play in the Diamond Head Classic on Friday with a 78-63 setback against Old Dominion.

BY THE NUMBERS

Hysier Miller paced Temple with 20 points and five assists.
Shane Dezonie was in double figures for the third time this season, scoring 11 including a season-high trio of three-pointers.
Sam Hofman tallied 12 and led the Owls with nine rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Temple started well from the field, hitting five of its first nine shots, three of them from beyond the arc as the Owls built a 13-10 lead five minutes into the contest. In the next segment of the half, TU went cold, but ODU could only muster going ahead by as many as three. With a spark off the bench, Dezonie scored five in a row for Temple, sparking an 8-3 run that resulted in a 23-21 lead for the Owls at the 5:34 mark.
Old Dominion got hot to close the first half, making 5-of-9 heading into the break, but threes by Hofman and Settle pulled Temple within three at intermission.
The Monarchs started the second stanza on a 10-2 run, taking a 44-33 lead three minutes into the frame. Undaunted, the Owls battled back, going on a 11-4 run, slicing the gap to 48-44 in less than three minutes.
ODU held Temple at arms' length for the next few moments before pulling away at the close.
