5.23.23 | General

PHILADELPHIA – It was another successful semester for Temple University's student-athletes where it matters the most -- in the classroom.  Temple's 450-plus student-athletes combined for a 3.34 semester grade point average which is an increase of 0.06 from the fall to spring semester.

It marks the 23rd straight semester grade point average above a 3.00 with five of the last seven semesters being at 3.30 or above.  An impressive 77 percent of Temple's student-athletes earned a semester GPA of 3.0 or above.  Also, a total of 39 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average for the spring semester.

"Congratulations to our student-athletes for their success where it truly matters, the classroom," said Temple University Vice President and Director of Athletics Arthur Johnson. "I would also like to thank Tara Evans and her staff at the Nancy and Donald Resnick Academic Support Center for their hard work and dedication to our student-athletes' success. It is with their guidance, as well as the commitment from our coaches and staffs, which leads to this consistent academic success."

Eighteen varsity sports posted a combined semester GPA above a 3.00 with 12 earning a GPA at 3.30 or above.  Men's cross country and field hockey posted the top male and female varsity sport semester GPAs, earning 3.73 and 3.72 GPAs, respectively.

Eighteen Temple teams earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better with women's gymnastics (3.65) and men's cross country (3.59) topping the list.  Additionally, 12 teams earned cumulative GPAs at 3.30 or above.
