Former Temple Rower Elaine Tierney Makes 2023 US Rowing Senior National team

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. — Former Temple Women's rower Elaine Tierney is set to return to the US Rowing Senior National Team.

Tierney qualified for the national team's lightweight women's pair at the 2023 Senior National Team Trials on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey on Saturday, July 29. Tierney and teammate Solveig Imsdahl placed second in the event at last year's 2022 World Rowing Championships.

The duo raced uncontested at this year's trials, finishing the qualification with a time of 7:31.61. Tierney and Imsdahl are coming off a victory at the 2022 US Rowing Summer National Championships in the women's lightweight pair.

Tierney spent five years as a member of the Temple University Women's Rowing team, where she earned a Second Team All-AAC selection in 2022. Tierney was named 2020 Temple Women's Rowing Athlete of the Year.

The 2023 World Rowing Championships are set to begin on Sept. 3 in Belgrade, Serbia.
