Yvandy Rigby Named AAC Defensive Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA — Temple linebacker Yvandy Rigby was named Defensive Play of the Week by the American Athletic Conference for Week 1.
Rigby, a graduate student from Egg Harbor Township, N.J., led the Owls defense with 14 total tackles and tied a career high 11 solo tackles. Rigby was the anchor for Temple on defense, limiting Akron to a scoreless second half in which the Zips were held to just 41 total yards. The Owls came back from down 21-7 to defeat Akron 24-21 in Week 1. Rigby's 11 solo tackles are tied for the most by any FBS player through the first week of the season.
