Davenport Earns Fifth Straight Match with Double-Digit Kills Against Memphis

PHILADELPHIA – Outside hitter Taylor Davenport tallied 10 kills in Sunday's loss at Memphis as the Owls fell to 8-12 overall on the season with a 1-5 in the American Athletic Conference in a 21-15, 25-23, 25-19 loss. The Tigers moved to 9-9 overall and 3-3 in conference with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Davenport's 10 kills was the fifth straight match the graduate student has earned double-figure kills.
- Hannah Jones' 12 kills led the match while teammate Tiffany Snook's 10 kills helped the Tigers to a .396 hitting percentage.
- Memphis' Jasmyn Tate earned a match-high four blocks
- Temple's Hikialani Kaohelaulii and Jordan Heatherly of Memphis tied for the match-high with 12 digs.
SET 1 (MEM 25, TEM 15)
- The Owls got out to a 7-2 start with Davenport connecting with three kills in the set.
- The Tigers scored 10 of the next 11 points, to take a 12-8 lead behind two kills apiece from Tabytha Toelke, Jasmyn Tate, Jordan Heatherly, and Clara Bednarek.
- With the Owls down by the score of 17-12, the Tigers scored eight of the final 11 points to win the set including six in a row.
- Memphis' Tiffany Snook led the first set with four kills while hitting .600 and defensively led the set with two sets.
SET 2 (MEM 25, TEM 23)
- Just like the first set, Temple got out to a quick start, taking the lead. Led by Sydney Jones' two kills, led three other Owls with one kill to push her team out to the 9-6 lead.
- The momentum swung towards Memphis as it scored five straight points with back-to-back kills from Toelke.
- Over the next seven points, both squads traded points before the Owls scored back-to-back points to tie the score at 14.
- Tate played a part over the next three points, giving Memphis a lead with a block assist and kill, forcing the Owls into a timeout.
- Out of the timeout, Temple scored six of the next seven points to earn a 20-18 advantage by behind kills Alyssa Finister, Chelci Banks, and Davenport along with a service ace from Jones.
- Memphis pulled out the set victory, scoring seven of the final 10 points
SET 3 (UAB 25, TEM 19)
- After a 2-0 Tigers' start, the Owls took their own lead, 3-2, with three straight points including kills from Finister and Banks.
- Memphis tied the set and retook the lead, extending its lead to three points, 8-5, but the Owls clawed to keep the deficit close, including tying the set two times.
- The Tigers scored five of six points to take a 18-14 advantage with an ace and kill from Snook.
- The home team closed out the match, scoring six of the final seven points with Hannah Jones picking up three of her 12 match kills.
