Owls Close Non-Conference Schedule with Win Over Buffalo

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's basketball team secured its fifth home victory of the season, defeating the Buffalo Bulls in their final non-conference matchup, 91-71. Five Owls scored in double figures for the second time this season, with a total of ten different players contributing points to the win.

- After an uneven first 15 minutes, the Owls picked up the intensity on the defensive end.
- Temple held Buffalo scoreless over the final 5:38 of the period, and went on an extended 16-1 run to take a double-figure lead into the locker room.
- Nine different players found the scoring column for the home team in the first half, with senior Shane Dezonie leading the way.
- Off the bench, Dezonie scored seven points and sophomore Quante Berry also made an impact with three steals.
- Jamal Mashburn Jr. began to heat up in the second half of play, scoring 13 points in the final 20 minutes to up his total to 18.
- After the Bulls cut the Owl lead to eight, TU went on a quick 8-0 run led by five straight points from Quante Berry.
- The contest was largely back and forth from this point forward as the Owls won by a 20-point margin to advance to 8-5 heading into conference play.
- Mashburn Jr. led Temple with 18 points, while Berry and Zion Stanford each scored 15.
- The Owls scored a season-high 48 points off the bench.
- Steve Settle III recorded his second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
- Temple scored 22 points on the fastbreak, marking a season-high.
- Dezonie set a career-high with a team-leading five assists.
- Temple opens American Athletic Conference play on Friday, January 3 against Wichita State at Liacouras Center.
- Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m., and the contest will air live nationally on ESPN2.
