Temple University Men’s Basketball Team Signs Cairo Through Team IMPACT

PHILADELPHIA – Today, Temple University men's basketball announced a new team member, signing 13-year old Cairo through Team IMPACT.
Cairo, who is a cancer survivor, officially signed with the team today at McGonigle Hall. He will participate in many activities with the Owls, including games, practices and other team events during the next two years.
Team IMPACT, a national non-profit organization, has developed a unique multi-year program that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country. Based on a clinical model, Team IMPACT guides a symbiotic relationship between teams and children focused on socialization, empowerment, and resilience.
Temple has worked with Team IMPACT for the past nine years, matching 13 children across eight teams.
"We're very excited to have Cairo join our team. We can draw inspiration from his experience and how he has persevered through so much in a short time. We are looking forward to having him be a member of our Owls family and having him be one of our own. Thank you to Team IMPACT for helping match us!"
