2024 Temple Football Schedule Announced

2.29.24 | Football

PHILADELPHIA – The American Athletic Conference today announced its 2024 football schedule. The Temple Football season, the third under head coach Stan Drayton, will get underway on Saturday, Aug. 31, when the Owls travel to Oklahoma to take on the nationally-ranked Sooners (Oklahoma finished ranked No. 15 at the end of 2023).

There is no shortage of tough competition as three of Temple's non-conference opponents were bowl eligible – Oklahoma, Coastal Carolina, and Utah State.

Temple fans will get a chance to see four teams come to Lincoln Financial Field for the first-time ever as Coastal Carolina (Sept. 14), Utah State (Sept. 21) and Florida Atlantic (Nov. 16) face Temple for the first-time ever and North Texas travels to Philadelphia (Nov. 30) for its first time.

The American Athletic Conference faced some realignment in 2023-24 allowing Temple fans to see some new opponents for the Owls. However, Navy has been a staple on the Owls schedule since they joined the conference and the AAC schedule will kickoff with that matchup in week two with Temple traveling to Annapolis (Sept. 7).

Temple is scheduled to host conference newcomer Army in a primetime game at Lincoln Financial Field, a Thursday night battle on Sept. 26.

After six weeks of non-conference games and the two military academies, Temple will take the first of two byes before attacking the rest of the AAC schedule. Temple will round out the schedule with home games against Tulsa (Oct. 19), FAU, and North Texas. Those games will sandwich road games at East Carolina (Oct. 26), Tulane (Nov. 9), and UTSA. The UTSA game is flexed to be played either Friday or Saturday, Nov. 22/23.

Kickoff times and television designations for the first three weeks of the season, will be finalized by June 1. The rest of the schedule will fall under the customary 12-day and six-day selection processes.

Each of the 14 teams in The American will play eight conference games in 2024. The top two teams in the final single-division regular-season standings will meet Dec. 7 in the ninth American Athletic Conference Football Championship. The team with the best conference record will host that game.
