Women’s Rowing Wins Kelly Cup for First Time Since 2006

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple Women's Rowing program defended its home turf on the Schuylkill River this weekend, claiming the Kelly Cup title for the first time since 2006.
The Cherry & White were dominant throughout the entire regatta, winning four out of the five races. The Owls competed against St. Joseph's, Drexel, La Salle, and Jefferson.
Prior to the regatta, Temple honored the following seniors: Rose Biddulph, Sebastiana Lopez, Giselle Kiriacos, Rachel Dunford, Lily Bielinski, Corinne Carlson, Grace Dulin, Renee Goga, Jordan Howe, Chloe McHugh-Freedenberg, and Maggie Page.
"Today was a full team effort and I couldn't be more happy for the team," Head Coach Rebecca Grzybowski said. "They have leaned into every challenge this season. This result is a direct reflection of their trust and belief in each other and watching them celebrate together is one of my favorite memories to date at Temple. We are looking forward to carrying this momentum into our final races...more to come, go Owls!"
How it Happened
> Temple started the day off strong winning the 3rd Varsity 8 in a competitive race. The Owls finished at 7:41, defeating St. Josephs' by two seconds.
> In the 2nd Varsity 4, the Owls took a two-second victory over Drexel and finished at 8:05.
> The Cherry & White's 2nd Varsity 8 won handily, clocking in at 7:12. The next boat to finish came in at 7:17.
> Temple's Varsity 8 closed out the day with an emphatic victory in the final race of the day, finishing in first place against all five Philadelphia schools competing in the event. The Owls clocked in at 6:57, four seconds ahead of second-place St. Josephs
