Owls Lacrosse Has Two Named PhillySIDA Academic All-Area

PHILADELPHIA - Temple lacrosse's Belle Mastropietro and Katie Shallow were named to the 2024 PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Team, as announced on Tuesday. Mastropietro was named to the team for the second time in her career while Shallow was honored for the first time.
Mastropietro adds another PhillySIDA honor to four previous American Athletic Confernce All-Academic recognitions and a slew of athletic honors, including three AAC Midfielder of the Year awards, four All-AAC selections, three IWLCAÂ All-Region selections, three USA Lacrosse/Inside Lacrosse All-American selections, and Temple's 2024 Female Athlete of the Year. The graduate student finished the 2023-24 academic year with a 3.95 GPA in the Exercise Science program while continuing her success on the field, leading the Owls in goals, assists, points, and draw controls en route to the AAC Tournament.
Shallow has earned her first career academic award at any level after finishing her senior year with a 3.70 GPA in Finance. The senior defender earned plenty of accolades on the field, including AAC Defensive Player of the Year, three All-AAC selections, an IWLCA All-Region honor, and All-American recognition from both USA Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse. She led the Owls defense in 2024, ranking top five nationally in caused turnovers and draw controls and setting new single season and career program records for caused turnovers.
