Temple Shines Again with Release of Latest APR Data

PHILADELPHIA – The NCAA released its four-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Temple Athletics again excelled in this measuring tool for success in the classroom.
Temple posted an average 986 multiyear APR with 10 athletic programs earning a perfect single year 1000 APR scores: Men's Basketball, Men's Cross Country, Women's Fencing, Men's Golf, Women's Gymnastics, Women's Rowing, Women Soccer, Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis and Women's Volleyball. Temple is one of thirteen Football Bowl Subdivision institutions with an average APR greater than 990 since the 2015-16 academic year: Northwestern University, Duke University, Rice University, U.S. Naval Academy, Arizona State University, Vanderbilt University, University of Michigan, Stanford University, University of Cincinnati, Boston College, Temple University.
"Congratulations to our student-athletes on this amazing academic achievement," said Temple University Vice President and Debbie and Stanley Lefkowitz '65 Director of Athletics Arthur Johnson. " I would like to commend Tara Evans and her staff at the Nancy and Donald Resnick Academic Support Center for their hard work and dedication to our student-athletes' success, as well as Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, Assessment and Institutional Research Jodi Levine Laufgraben and her staff in the Provost Office. It is through their hard work, as well as our coaches' commitment to academics, that this success is possible."
Five Temple programs, Men's Basketball, Women's Fencing, Men's Golf, Women's Gymnastics and Women's Soccer have earned the Academic Progress Rate Public Recognition Award for their respective sports. The public recognition awards are given to the top-performing teams in each sport based on their most recent multiyear APR. Temple is one of 18 FBS institutions to have five or more teams earn public recognition in each of the last five years.
This marks the 10th straight year that Temple Men's Basketball has earned a perfect 1000 APR score. Temple is the only American Athletic Conference school to earn a perfect multi-year of 1000 in men's basketball, and one of only 25 programs nationally. It is also the seventh straight year that Temple Men's Basketball has a multi-year score of 1000. Temple men's basketball is one of only nine FBS institutions and one of 25 among all 361 NCAA Division I programs with a perfect APR score.
Temple Women's Soccer also extended its streak to 10 perfect 1000 APR single year scores.
