Temple Football Adds Three to Staff
6.4.24 | Football
PHILADELPHIA – Temple Football head coach Stan Drayton introduced three new members to his staff adding Earnest Wilson as Chief of Staff, Sam Scott as Assistant Director of Player Personnel and Toriana Brown as Director of On-Campus Recruiting.
"I'm delighted to add Earnest, Sam and Toriana to the Temple Football family," said Drayton. "I have a long history with Coach Wilson, it's tough for me to call him Earnest. He was one of my coaches at Allegheny so we go back quite a bit. He has had an amazing career in football and will be invaluable to me and this staff. Sam has been a volunteer here for over a year and has earned this full-time role. And Toriana will be a great addition who comes to us with experience from two respected schools."

Earnest Wilson, Chief of Staff
Earnest Wilson III was named Temple Football chief of staff in May, 2024. This serves as a reunion for Wilson and Temple head coach Stan Drayton; the two first met when Drayton played football at Allegheny College and Wilson was cutting his teeth as a football coach.
Wilson began his coaching career as receivers and tight ends coach at Allegheny in 1990. That year they won the 1990 NCAA Division III National Championship.
After two seasons at Allegheny, Wilson had college stints as an assistant coach at Maine (1992), Penn State (1993-94), Alabama A&M (1995-96), Elizabeth City (1997-98), Oberlin (1999), Benedict (2003-04), New Mexico State (2005-09), Jackson State (2010-11), and Hampton (2012).
In 2013, he was hired to be the head coach at Savannah State. After three seasons, he became the head coach at Elizabeth City State. From there, he moved to Defiance College as an assistant coach but was soon elevated to head coach. In 2023, he served as head coach at Minnesota North College.
Wilson also worked in various roles for the Dayton Skyhawks, Carolina Rhinos, Jacksonville Tomcats, and Arkansas Attack.
Wilson played football while receiving both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Texas Tech University. He earned his undergraduate degree in recreation in 1989 and a master's in sports administration in 1990.
Sam Scott, Assistant Director of Player Personnel
Sam Scott joined Temple Football in February, 2023, as a volunteer in coaching and player personnel. He was hired into a full-time role as Assistant Director of Player Personnel
in May, 2024.
During his time with Temple, Scott helped prepare the defensive linemen for meetings and practice. He also aided in the recruitment of student-athletes by evaluating film and assisting with the execution of on-campus visits.
Prior to his time at Temple, Scott served as the defensive line coach at West Chester University from 2020-22 after handing the defensive ends from 2018-19. During those five seasons, he developed three All-Americans and 10 all-conference players. In 2018, WCU led all D-II schools in sacks (50) and was second in rushing defense (67.5 ypg). He has also served as a performance coach at Titus Sports Academy.
The Yeadon, Pa., native was a dual sport athlete as an undergraduate at West Chester playing outside linebacker on the football team and power forward for the basketball team. Scott went on to play professional football for five seasons in the Canadian Football League (Calgary, Hamilton, Winnipeg) and for the Philadelphia Soul on the Arena League.
Scott and his wife, Chantel, have two sons, Sam III and Cannon.
Toriana Brown, Director of On-Campus Recruiting
Toriana Brown joined the Temple Football staff in May, 2024, as the director of on-campus recruiting. In her role she will organize official and unofficial recruiting visits, as well as assist in the transition and onboarding for all new student-athletes.
Brown came to Temple after serving the 2023 season in a similar role with Marshall University. Prior to Marshall, she worked for two seasons as a football recruitment and operations intern at her alma mater, the University of Illinois.
The Aurora, Ill., native earned her degree in recreation, sport and tourism from Illinois in 2023.
