7.22.24 | Women's Soccer

PORTLAND, Ore. – Temple women's soccer alumna Marissa DiGenova has been signed by the two-time NWSL champion Portland Thorns as a National Team Replacement player.

DiGenova appeared in 76 matches with 64 starts for the Owls from 2017-21. During her career, she played 6,247 minutes and led Temple in field time in each of her final four seasons, including never leaving the pitch in 10 games during the spring 2021 season. While anchoring the back line for TU, she came forward and had her most productive year offensively with four points in 2019. Among her output was the game-tying goal in the 90th minute against Maryland on September 12 as well as assists in wins against UMBC and Wagner.

Most recently, the King of Prussia native started 11 matches for the Lancaster Inferno in the USL W League, scoring three goals and adding five assists, helping to lead the inferno to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

DiGenova is one of two players signed by the Thorns to replace players on the roster that will appear in the Summer Olympics in Paris. NTR Players get the opportunity to showcase their skills at the highest level with potential for contract signing by their club or other NWSL teams upon the national team member return.
