PHILADELPHIA – Temple University Athletics is once again proud to host the Councilman Curtis Jones Rowing Camp the weeks of July 29 and August 5 at the East Park Canoe House, home of the Temple Crew and Rowing programs.
"This camp is always a great experience, not just for the campers who get to learn a new sport and spend time at campus and on the Schuylkill River, but also for our staff and current Temple rowers as well," said Temple Women's Rowing Head Coach Rebecca Grzybowski. "Being able to share the sport we all love in this way is special and rewarding. The energy and excitement from the campers is contagious and I feel that our coaches and student-athletes get as much out of these weeks as our newest rowers. Who knows - maybe for some campers this will be the start of a long and successful rowing career!"
Coaches and student-athletes from both programs welcomed approximately 30 campers, ages 10-12, to Temple University and the East Park Canoe Boathouse. Throughout the week-long event, children were provided a tour of the main campus and training on the proper technique to row a shell on the river. The five-day camp culminated on Friday, August 2 when the campers raced against boats manned by city council staffers from the office of Councilman Jones as well as Temple staffers and alums.
