Temple University Athletics is excited to announce the appointment of Dan Lobacz as the new Senior Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications. Lobacz joins the Owls from La Salle University, where he served as the Associate Athletic Director for External Relations.
In his new role at Temple, Lobacz will oversee all aspects of strategic communications, including media relations and social media for the university's athletic programs. His extensive experience in external relations and strategic communications will be instrumental in enhancing the visibility and reputation of Temple Athletics.
"We are excited to welcome Dan Lobacz and his family to the Temple Athletics family," said Arthur Johnson, Vice President/Debbie and Stanley Lefkowitz '65 Director of Athletics at Temple University. "Dan's proven track record in strategic communications, other external areas, and his ties to the Philadelphia community make him a great fit for our team."
At La Salle University, Lobacz was responsible for overseeing the athletic department's external relations team, which included communications, marketing, corporate sponsorships, digital media, and social media. He played a key role in promoting the university's athletic programs and enhancing their public profile.
"I would like to thank Arthur Johnson, Jessica Reo (Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator), Derek Horne (Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director/Strategic Initiatives and Sports), and the rest of the search committee at Temple for affording me this opportunity," said Lobacz. "I was very impressed by the vibrant energy the campus has to offer and, more importantly, the people that make Temple University such a great place. I can't wait to get started."
Lobacz brings a wealth of experience to Temple, having previously worked at Long Island University in Brooklyn, where he managed communications, marketing, and promotional efforts for the school's 19 Division I sport programs. His background also includes serving as the main media contact for the LIU Brooklyn men's basketball team during their run to a third straight NCAA Tournament.
Lobacz holds a degree from Syracuse University and has been recognized for his contributions to the field of athletic communications.
