Owls in the NFL - Divisional Round

1.20.25 | Football

The NFL Divisional Round Playoffs gave us a major upset and a couple late game thrillers to decide who would head to the NFC/AFC Championship Game. With just two games left until the big game, let's see where our Owls' Super Bowl hopes remain after an exciting week of playoff football.

Washington's Jordan Magee (2019-23) was added to the Commanders injury reserve after re-aggravating a hamstring injury in the Wild Card round. Magee's season is over, but the Commanders were able to pull of a major upset against Michael Niese (2016-21) and the Detroit Lions. The 45-31 win on the road gives the Commanders its first NFC Championship appearance since 1991. Niese did not see any action in this game, and now with his first campaign in Detroit behind him, will look to grow his game in the offseason.

The Buffalo Bills handled business in the run game behind Pro Bowler Dion Dawkins (2013-16) and the Bills' offensive line that has been elite all season. Former Owl Ray Davis (2019-20) scored the first of three rushing touchdowns, with the Bills' backfield rushing for 147 yards in the game. The 27-25 nail-biting victory at home over Baltimore sends Dawkins and the Bills to Kansas City to face the Chiefs in what has become an intense rivalry in recent years. Dawkins is now the lone remaining active Temple alum in the postseason and is one game away from playing in his first Super Bowl.

Baltimore Ravens' practice squad players Keith Kirkwood (2014-17), and William Kwenkeu (2016-21) will now head to the offseason hoping to join the active roster next season.
