Faculty Athletics Representative Board Honors 16 Student-Athletes

PHILADELPHIA - The 1A FAR (Faculty Athletics Representative) Board announced the recipients of the 2025 1A FAR Academic Excellence Award. This award recognizes outstanding student-athletes for their significant accomplishments in the classroom while competing at the highest level of college sports.

Temple had 16 student-athletes earn the distinguished honor. Included on that list were:
Julia Bunch (Women's Field Hockey), Dalia Dubin (Women's Rowing), Ren Edmiston (Women's Rowing), Arwen Gormley (Women's Fencing), Taylor Grollman (Women's Lacrosse), Kevin Harvell (Men's Crew), James Koel (Men's Cross Country), Allyson Metzger (Women's Track and Field), Amarna Milne (Women's Rowing), Magdalena Rogalska (Women's Volleyball), Sydney Seibert (Women's Gymnastics), Cole Sprague (Football), Hannah Stallings (Women's Gymnastics), Sarah Stallings (Women's Gymnastics), Aliza White Vega (Women's Track and Field), and Jessie Zheng (Women's Tennis). 

"We are so proud of the outstanding academic achievements of all our student-athletes here at Temple University," stated Dr. Elizabeth Taylor, Temple University's FAR. "This group, recognized by the 1A FAR Board, illustrates the dedication of our student-athletes to their academic and athletic pursuits. They truly embodied the highest standard of academic and athletic achievement."

The Award is given annually to student-athletes who graduate with a cumulative GPA of 3.80 or above and have participated in at least two years of NCAA intercollegiate athletics at a Football Bowl Subdivision institution.

The Owls had a spring 2025 semester department GPA of 3.46. This made it the 27th consecutive semester of a 3.0 or higher and the seventh straight with a 3.25 or higher. Temple had 84.6% of its student-athletes earn a 3.0 or better. They also had 65 student-athletes earn a 4.0 GPA. All 19 of Temple's athletic programs had a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Women's Lacrosse had the highest semester GPA with a 3.70. Also, Men's Tennis had 100% of their team earn a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher.
