Simon Named to Manning Award Watch List for 2025 Season
10.23.25 | Football
NEW ORLEANS – Redshirt senior quarterback Evan Simon has been added to the Manning Award Watch List for the 2025 college football season.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting. Since the Manning Award started recognizing Stars of the Week in 2011, 570 different quarterbacks from 135 schools have been recognized. Seventy-four players were honored during the 2024 season.
Simon has started all seven games for the Owls this season and has led the team to a 4-3 record. The gunslinger has thrown for 1,343 yards and 16 touchdowns. His 16 touchdown passes have him tied for second in the American Conference, and 14th in the FBS heading into week nine. Simon has a 16:0 touchdown to interception ratio this season, putting him at the top of the list nationally in that category. He also has a 157.25 passing efficiency this season, good enough for first in the American and 23rd nationally.
Simon and the Owls enter week nine in search of a fifth win in 2025 when the team takes on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in Oklahoma. The game will kick off at 3:30 pm ET on ESPN+ and can be listened to at OwlSports.com/Listen.
