Owls in the NFL - Week 5

10.7.25 | Football

The NFL season is in full swing with Week 5 officially in the books. Let's take a look at how our Temple Owls performed around the league.

Jacob Martin (2014–17) and Jordan Magee (2019–23) made their presence felt in Washington's 27–10 road win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Both defenders totaled three tackles, with Martin also recording half a sack. Their efforts helped power a Commanders defense that held the Chargers scoreless over the final three quarters.

Detroit's Rock Ya-Sin (2018) delivered another strong performance in the Lions' 37–24 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, pushing Detroit to 4–1 on the season. Ya-Sin notched three tackles and two pass breakups, including a crucial deflection on a deep ball intended for Cincinnati's Tee Higgins.

In Tampa Bay, head coach Todd Bowles (1982–85) and linebacker Haason Reddick (2013–16) celebrated a thrilling 38–35 win over the Seattle Seahawks. Tampa Bay's Chase McLaughlin converted a game winning 39 yard field goal as time expired in arguably the most exciting game during the week 5 slate. Reddick contributed one tackle in the win.

Dion Dawkins (2013–16) and Sam Franklin (2016–19) saw their Buffalo Bills fall for the first time this season, dropping a 23–20 decision on Sunday Night Football. Dawkins anchored an offense that totaled 363 yards, while Franklin added two tackles on defense.

David Martin Robinson (2018-23) served as the third tight end in Tennessee's first win of the season over the Arizona Cardinals, 22-21. While he did not record any statistics, Martin-Robinson contributed as a key blocker during his snaps on the field.

Matt Hennesey (2016-19) did not play in San Francisco's 26-23 OT win over the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football. Christian Braswell (2017-20) also did not see the field in the Jaguars 31-28 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football.

Arnold Ebiketie (2017–20) and the Atlanta Falcons were on a bye week. They'll return to action against Dawkins and Franklin's Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football next week.

Brandon McManus (2009–12) and the Green Bay Packers also had the week off. They'll be back on the field Sunday at 4:25 p.m. against the Cincinnati Bengals.
