11.14.25 | Football
AUGUSTA, Ga. – On Friday morning the Augusta Sports Council announced that Temple's junior punter Dante Atton has been named as a 2025 Ray Guy Award Semifinalist. Atton is one of ten punters in the FBS this season being recognized with this nomination.
Named for football's premier punter – this award honors the nation's best collegiate punter in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The Augusta Sports Council created the Ray Guy Award in 2000 to honor Thomson, Georgia native and College and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Ray Guy. Among the statistics used to identify the winner are net punting average, percentage of punts inside the 20-yard line, and percentage of punts not returned, with particular emphasis placed on net punting average.
This season, Atton has made waves on the field. The Australian native has punted 49 times in 2025 for a total of 2,044 yards. Atton averages 41.12 yards per punt this season and his long went for 57 yards. He has pinned opponents within their own 20-yard line 21 times this season.
A national voting body of sports media representatives, SIDs, and previous Ray Guy Award winners will determine the three finalists and winner.
