11.19.25 | General

PHILADELPHIA Temple University Athletics posted a record-tying Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 95, according to data released by the NCAA on Wednesday. The score ties the department record set in 2021–22.

"Academic excellence is at the core of our mission, and these results reflect the commitment of our student-athletes, coaches and staff, and the University," Temple University Vice President/Debbie and Stanley Lefkowitz '65 Director of Athletics Arthur Johnson said. "To achieve this level of consistency across so many programs is something our entire university community can be proud of. Our student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom and set a standard that represents the very best of Temple University."

Temple's 95 is two points above the national average of 93. It also ranks second in the American Conference behind only Tulane.

Temple led the American in combined GSR (95%) and Federal Graduation Rate (79%). This is the seventh straight year the department has posted a GSR of 90 percent or higher.

Nationally, Temple is one of just 36 schools - out of 357 - to record both a GSR of 95 percent or higher and an FGR of at least 79 percent.

Eleven Temple programs earned a perfect 100 percent GSR: Men's Basketball, Men's Tennis, Men's Cross Country, Women's Rowing, Field Hockey, Women's Gymnastics, Women's Lacrosse, Women's Fencing, Women's Soccer, Women's Tennis and Women's Volleyball.

Several teams extended impressive streaks. Men's Tennis recorded its 16th straight perfect score. Women's Rowing, Women's Soccer and Women's Volleyball each reached eight consecutive years of 100 percent.

Volleyball earned a perfect GSR and FGR for the third straight year and was the only American Conference program in 2024–25 to achieve 100 percent in both categories. Women's tennis and men's cross country were also the only programs in their sports within the conference to earn perfect GSR and FGR marks.

Temple men's basketball tied for first in the American with a 100 percent GSR, matching FAU. Nationally, Temple is one of only three Division I men's basketball programs - along with Furman and Monmouth - to pair a perfect GSR with an FGR of 90 percent or higher.

Temple football also posted strong academic numbers, ranking second in the American with a 92 percent GSR, trailing only Tulane.
