Kasem Kaheal Makes American Conference All-Freshmen Team

11.3.25 | Men's Cross Country

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - This past weekend at the American Conference Championships, Freshman Kasem Kaheal clocked in with an 8K time of 25:21.3 which put him fourth among all Freshmen. Doing so earned him the honor of being on the American Conference All-Freshmen team. This award was given to the first five freshmen that crossed the finish line at the Championships.

"Going into the meet all I had on my mind was that I wanted to fight for my teammates. Getting on the All-Freshmen team was a side goal and it made me feel accomplished of my main goal," said Kaheal.

Kaheal made his collegiate cross country debut at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoes Invitational in which he ran the men's 5.2M in 26:44.9 and placed 67th out of 107 athletes. His first time running an 8K this season was back on Oct. 3 at the Paul Short Run where he came across the line with a time of 25:42.4. He has consistently improved on his 8K time as the season has progressed and it was no different while competing in the American Conference Championships as he finished with a personal record and came in 50th out of 95 runners. His incredible performance this past Saturday also earned him recognition within Temple sports as he was selected as the Temple Athlete of the Week.

Assistant Coach Riley Buchholz had this to say regarding Kaheal's recognition, "We are extremely proud of Kasem! We knew going in that he had a shot at earning this accolade and that's exactly what he did. This young man has a ton of talent but his hard work and dedication outshines everything." Coach Buchholz added, "He is going to be vital to our program's success in the future. We won't be surprised when he is All-Conference next season. This is just the start for this young man!"

Up next for the Owls is the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships on Nov. 14 in Bethlehem, Pa.
