Owls in the NFL - Week 9
11.4.25 | Football
It was a big weekend for two former Temple offensive linemen in week nine of the NFL season.
Matt Hennessy (2016-19) delivered another solid start at center for the 49ers in their 34-24 win over the Giants to improve to 6-3 on the year. Hennessy anchored an offense that produced 380 total yards including 159 yards on the ground. He has stepped up in the absence of 49ers' starting center Jake Brendel and has proven to be a quality starter at the center position.
Left tackle Dion Dawkins (2013-16) also once again performed at a very high level for the Bills in their big 28-21 victory over the Chiefs. The Bills totaled 404 yards of offense on the game, including 141 rushing yards behind Dawkins. With this win, the Bills are now just a half game back of the Patriots for first place in the AFC East. Sam Franklin (2016-19) did not play in the win.
Linebackers Jordan Magee (2019-23) and Jacob Martin (2014-17) remained key contributors to the Commanders defense in their 38-14 loss to the Seahawks. Magee delivered a career-high five tackles in the game while Martin also contributed two of his own. Both have played an important role in the Commanders' defense so far this year.
Kicker Brandon McManus (2009-12) converted two of his three field goals in the Packers 16-13 loss to the Panthers. He hit from 49 and 27 while missing from 42. McManus is perfect in the season from 20-39 yards.
Linebacker Arnold Ebiketie (2017-20) delivered another solid performance in the Falcons 24-23 loss to the Patriots. He recorded three more tackles including a TFL, his second of the season. He has now totaled 24 tackles on the year, remaining a key part of the Falcons' defense.
Tight end David Martin Robinson (2018-23) played in three snaps in the Titans 27-20 loss to the Chargers. Cornerback Christian Braswell played in one snap in the Jaguars 30-29 OT win over the Raiders. Cornerback Rock Ya-Sin (2018) did not play in the Lions 27-24 loss to the Vikings.
Head Coach Todd Bowles (1982-85), linebacker Hasson Reddick (2013-16), and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were on a bye this week. They will be back in action next Sunday to take on the Patriots at 1 pm.
