Dionte Christmas Named to Philadelphia Big 5 Hall of Fame Class of 2025

11.5.25 | General, Men's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA – Former Temple men's basketball guard Dionte Christmas has been selected for induction into the Philadelphia Big 5 Hall of Fame Class of 2025, the organization announced Wednesday. Christmas joins an elite group of five former student-athletes and one member of the media who will be honored during the Men's Toyota Big 5 Classic at the Xfinity Mobile Arena on Saturday, Dec. 6, and the Women's Big 5 Classic at Villanova's Finneran Pavilion on Sunday, December 7.

Dionte Christmas ranks among Temple's most prolific scorers, standing as one of just four players in program history to surpass the 2,000-point mark. He remains the only player ever to lead the Atlantic 10 Conference in scoring for three consecutive seasons and is one of just three Owls to lead the team in scoring three times, joining fellow Big 5 Hall of Famers Mark Macon and Jim Williams. Known for his elite shooting touch, Christmas holds Temple's all-time record for three-point field goals and is the only player in school history to make 100 three-pointers in a season, accomplishing the feat twice. He earned First Team All-Conference and Atlantic 10 Championship MVP honors in 2008 and 2009 and was selected to the First Team All-Philadelphia Big 5 three times. Following his Temple career, Christmas played professionally for nine years, including one season with the Phoenix Suns of the NBA.

The Owls are set to open their 2025 season against the Delaware State Hornets on Wednesday, November 5. Tip-off from the Liacouras Center is set for 7 p.m. with the game streaming exclusively on ESPN+.
