Nebraska Transfer Gavin Griffiths Signs With Owls

4.25.25 | Men's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA – Nebraska transfer Gavin Griffiths has signed with the Temple University men's basketball team, head coach Adam Fisher announced Friday.

Griffiths, a 6-foot-7 guard who spent the 2024-25 season at Nebraska after beginning his collegiate career at Rutgers, will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

"We're excited to add Gavin and his family to our program," said Fisher. "His experience in the Big Ten will bring great value to our team. Gavin's versatility on the offensive and defensive end will be a major asset to us next season. His ability to stretch the floor as well as make an impact off the bounce will allow us to really open up the floor.

As a sophomore, Griffiths appeared in 16 games for the Cornhuskers, averaging 2.1 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest. The Simsbury, Conn. native posted season highs of eight points against both FDU and Southern and grabbed a season-best five rebounds in games against FDU and Penn State.

"I chose to continue my career at Temple because I believe in Coach Fisher and his staff," said Griffiths. "I'm excited for the opportunity to continue my basketball career at a program with such great tradition as Temple."

During his freshman season at Rutgers (2023-24), Griffiths played in all 32 games, earning starts against Princeton, Wake Forest and Maryland. He averaged 5.8 points and 2.2 rebounds for the Scarlet Knights. In his home debut, he scored 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting and added four rebounds against Boston University. The performance marked the highest-scoring home opener for a Rutgers player since 2013 and set a record for most points in a home debut by a Rutgers freshman.

Griffiths totaled seven double-figure scoring performances as a freshman in Piscataway.

A consensus four-star recruit and top-50 prospect in the Class of 2023, Griffiths averaged 24.6 points and 12 rebounds per game as a senior at Kingswood Oxford School. He was named the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class B Player of the Year and was ranked the No. 2 player in Connecticut by 247Sports, ESPN and On3.

Griffiths is the second transfer to sign with Temple this week, joining Jamai Felt (Boston, Mass./Bowling Green). Incoming freshman Cam Wallace (Philadelphia, Pa./Westtown) rounds out the newcomers signed to the 2025-26 roster.
