Men's Crew Concludes IRA National Championships with Three Top-20 Finishes

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - The Temple University men's crew team rounded out its 2025 championship season at IRA National Championships on the Cooper River Sunday. The Owls had three boats earn top 20 national placements, including a 16th-place showing by the second varsity eight. Overall as a team, Temple accumulated 89 points in the race for the Ten Eyck Point Trophy and finished 16th overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the third varsity eight closed in 19th place nationally in the C final to start the morning, the second varsity eight hit the water immediately after and got off to a hot start.
- The Owls were in third place through 500 meters and hanging with Cornell and Wisconsin as the race approached the midway point.
- Temple finished in fourth place in the C final, closing nearly five seconds faster than Navy.
- Following an impressive showing in its semifinal heat on Saturday, the top varsity boat could not gain traction in the final race of its national championship.
- The effort secured 18th place in the national standings and capped a highly successful racing season that saw the crew win the Quinn Cup (over Holy Cross & Hobart), the Bergen Cup (over La Salle, Drexel, St. Joe's and Villanova), and the Richard O'Brien - James Hanna Trophy at Dad Vail Regatta.
