PHILADELPHIA – Temple Football announced today agreements with Rutgers University and the University of Delaware for future non-conference football games.
"Since my arrival at Temple in December, I have said that we need to get back to recruiting within our footprint and playing non-conference games against teams in our area," said Temple head coach K.C. Keeler. "Having schools like Rutgers and Delaware on our schedule is great for our program, our student-athletes, and our fans. It will be exciting to see people come out and pack the stadiums."
Temple will begin a four-game home-and-home series with Rutgers in 2030. The series will begin in Philadelphia on Saturday, September 7, 2030, before heading to SHI Stadium in Piscataway, N.J., the following year (Sept. 6). Temple will host again in 2032 (Sept. 11) before returning to Rutgers in 2033 (Sept. 10).
Temple has played Rutgers 39 previous times with the Scarlet Knights holding a 15-24 advantage. Temple does hold a 9-8 edge in home games but would be looking for its first win in the series since a 20-17 victory on November 16, 2002. The schools last played on September 9, 2023, with Rutgers winning at home.
Temple will play a two-game home-and-home series against Delaware beginning in 2032. The series will kickoff in Newark, Del., on Thursday, September 2, 2032. Temple will host the season opener the following year (Sept. 1).
Temple and Delaware have a rich history having played 36 games against each other including a 32-year consecutive stretch from 1954-85. A 17-10 win for the Blue Hens on Nov. 2, 1985, was the last game of the series. Delaware holds a 14-22 overall record over the Owls.
