Jersey City, N.J. — The Temple University women's soccer team (1-2-0) fell to Saint Peter's University (1-1-1) by a final score of 3-1 on Thursday evening at Jaroschak Field. Freshman Maddie Ward recorded the lone goal for the Owls, while sophomore Sophia Chipirano led the team with four shots.

How it happened

Saint Peter's opened the scoring in the 31st minute, as Julia Pinho Magno found the back of the net to give the Peacocks a 1-0 advantage. Just three minutes later, Rebecca Tarc extended the lead to 2-0, sending Temple into halftime facing a two-goal deficit.
The Peacocks added to their lead early in the second half, with Alexa De Barros converting in the 55th minute to make it 3-0.
Temple responded in the 81st minute, when Ward capitalized on an opportunity to score her first collegiate goal. Despite a late push, the Owls were unable to close the gap, and the match concluded with a 3-1 result in favor of Saint Peter's.
Chipirano led all Temple players with four shots, while Ward registered two. In goal, Tamsin Bynoe made two saves, and freshman Claudia Viau recorded one save in her collegiate debut.
