Owls’ Late Push Not Enough Against FAU

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Temple women's soccer (3-9-0, 0-4-0) came up short in a hard-fought road match against Florida Atlantic (4-7-2, 1-2-1), falling 3-2 on Sunday afternoon in Boca Raton. Valentina Bitterwolf and Ofri Sacker each found the back of the net in the narrow defeat.

How It Happened

FAU struck early, opening the scoring in the 9th minute with a goal from Hailey Santiago, assisted by Leila Etemadi.
Temple responded in the 38th minute when Ofri Sacker headed in the equalizer off a corner kick delivered by Valentina Bitterwolf.
FAU regained the lead in the 57th minute through Sloane Young, with assists credited to Madison Micioni and Hailey Santiago. Just four minutes later, the Owls fell behind 3-1 following a goal from Daniella Diaz.
Temple fought back in the 79th minute as Bitterwolf capitalized on a scoring opportunity to make it a one-goal game. Despite the late push, the Owls were unable to find the equalizer.
Goalkeeper Taylor Vecchione recorded three saves in the match.
