Owls’ Late Push Not Enough Against FAU

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Temple women's soccer (3-9-0, 0-4-0) came up short in a hard-fought road match against Florida Atlantic (4-7-2, 1-2-1), falling 3-2 on Sunday afternoon in Boca Raton. Valentina Bitterwolf and Ofri Sacker each found the back of the net in the narrow defeat.

How It Happened
  • FAU struck early, opening the scoring in the 9th minute with a goal from Hailey Santiago, assisted by Leila Etemadi.
  • Temple responded in the 38th minute when Ofri Sacker headed in the equalizer off a corner kick delivered by Valentina Bitterwolf.
  • FAU regained the lead in the 57th minute through Sloane Young, with assists credited to Madison Micioni and Hailey Santiago. Just four minutes later, the Owls fell behind 3-1 following a goal from Daniella Diaz.
  • Temple fought back in the 79th minute as Bitterwolf capitalized on a scoring opportunity to make it a one-goal game. Despite the late push, the Owls were unable to find the equalizer.
  • Goalkeeper Taylor Vecchione recorded three saves in the match.

Up Next
Temple returns home on Thursday night to host North Texas. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
