1.12.26 | Men's Basketball

IRVINGTON, Texas – After setting a new season high in points and leading the Temple University men's basketball team to a 75-67 win over East Carolina last week, the conference announced Monday afternoon that Gavin Griffiths was named to its weekly honorable mention list.

Griffiths set a season high in points for the second straight game, leading Temple with 24 points on 9-of-16 shooting, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range. He filled the stat sheet with six rebounds, two assists, four blocks and two steals against the Pirates.

The Simsbury, Conn., native ranks second in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage (40.4 percent) and blocks per game (2.3), while ranking fourth in 3-pointers made per game (2.7). He is one of just five NCAA Division I players with at least 22 steals and 34 blocks this season.

During Temple's seven-game winning streak, Griffiths is averaging 15.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 2.7 blocks, while shooting 48.3 percent from the floor and 45.7 percent from 3-point range.

The honor marks the second time this season the junior guard has earned conference recognition. He was named the American Conference Player of the Week last week.

Griffiths and the Owls seek their eighth consecutive win Wednesday at Memphis. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
