1.26.26 | Men's Basketball

IRVING, Texas – The American Conference announced Monday that Temple University men's basketball senior guard Derrian Ford was named to the league's weekly honorable mention list after helping the Owls to a pair of road wins in Texas last week.

Ford averaged 18.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in victories at Rice (69-65) and UTSA (70-64). He shot 13-of-30 from the field and 8-of-9 at the foul line.

Ford scored 15 points at Rice before turning in a 21-point, eight-rebound performance at UTSA, narrowly missing a double-double. He reached 1,000 career points with a driving layup with 1:04 remaining to lift Temple to a 65-58 lead.

The 20-point performance was the eighth for the Magnolia, Ark., native in 20 contests this season. He ranks fourth in the conference in points per game (17.8), third in free throws made (109), fifth in free throw attempts (130), seventh in free throw percentage (83.8%) and ninth in field goal percentage (42.2%). He has now earned three weekly honors from the conference.

Ford and the Owls look to extend their winning streak to three against Charlotte on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at the Liacouras Center. The Small Business/Greek Night contest is slated to tip off at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. Visit owlstix.com today to purchase tickets.
