Owls Show Out at First Day of Schiller Duals

EVANSTON – Temple fencing opened competition at the Schiller Duals on Saturday, taking on a challenging six-match slate hosted by Northwestern University. The Owls faced the Wildcats in their morning opener at 8:15 a.m. before matching up with UIW, Notre Dame, Lawrence, Air Force, and UC San Diego to close out Day 1.
MEET SUMMARY
Temple began the day with a hard-fought match against host Northwestern, falling 19-8. The Owls bounced back with a decisive 22-5 victory over UIW as all three weapons delivered strong performances. After a close 19-8 setback to perennial power Notre Dame, Temple finished the day in commanding fashion, winning its final three bouts over Lawrence (23-4), Air Force (14-13), and UC San Diego (17-10).
INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
Senior foilist Natalie Adams-Kim posted a 7-4 mark on the day, including a pivotal 3-0 sweep against UC San Diego to help seal the Owls' final win.
Epeeist Eliana Geva led the way in her weapon group, finishing 12-4 overall and turning in key results against UIW (3-0), Notre Dame (2-1), Air Force (2-1), and UC San Diego (3-0).
In sabre, Keely Carter paced the Owls with a 7-5 record, delivering crucial victories versus Northwestern and UC San Diego.
