PHILADELPHIA (1/5/2026) – Temple University and the University of Toledo jointly announced that the Owls and Rockets will play a non-conference football game on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Glass Bowl in Toledo, Ohio. The home-and-home series will see the Rockets come to Philadelphia on September 18, 2032.
The schools last met in football in the 2015 Boca Raton Bowl on December 22, 2015. This will be the 12th meeting between the two schools where the Rockets hold an 8-3 advantage. Temple won, 40-24, in 2009 the last time they met at Glass Bowl Stadium.
This contest will complete the 12-game schedule for Temple in 2026. Three non-conference games have already been announced, all to be played at Lincoln Financial Field: September 5 against Rhode Island, September 12 vs. Penn State, and October 10 against UConn.
Temple will host the following American Conference opponents in 2026: Army, UAB, Charlotte, and Rice. The Owls will travel to East Carolina, Memphis, Navy, and South Florida.
As a side note, Toledo recently hired Mike Jacobs as a new head coach for the 2026 season. Ironically, its two previous coaches, Matt Campbell (2011-15) and Jason Candle (2015-25), were recently hired by Penn State and UConn, respectively. That previously mentioned 2015 Boca Raton Bowl marked Campbell's departure from Toledo and was Candle's first game at the helm for the Rockets.
UAB, Memphis and South Florida will also be under new sideline leadership providing no less than six opponents lining up first-year head coaches against Temple's K.C. Keeler. Keeler's 276 wins are the most among active FBS head coaches.
