10.18.26 | Men's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's soccer (2-8-3, 1-4-1 American) ties South Florida (1-10-3, 0-4-2 American), 3-3, on the road Sunday evening.
How It Happened
Temple opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Taimoor Hussain (2) blasted a shot from inside the box into the back of the net. Serigne Diallo equalized for South Florida in the 16th minute, and Max Kiefer gave the Bulls the lead with a goal in the 20th. Diallo added another on a bicycle kick in the 29th minute, his second of the match. Carlos Rojas (6) answered two minutes later with a bicycle kick of his own. The high-scoring first half ended with the Bulls leading the Owls, 3-2. Temple had five corners in the opening half, while South Florida had three.
In the second half, Temple found weaknesses in the South Florida defense and began exploiting them. The Owls recorded six shots over the final 45 minutes, and the most important came from Aaron Sullivan in the 79th minute. Sullivan sent a header past Marcus Steinhaeuser to tie the game at 3-3. It was the first time Temple had scored three goals in a game since a 3-2 win over Villanova on Aug. 25, 2024. In the final 10 minutes, Rojas and Quint Van Roij each had a good scoring chance, but neither shot hit the target, and the Owls could not retake the lead. The match ended in a 3-3 draw after 90 minutes. Gavin Atkinson finished with five saves.
