ELVERSON, Pa. - Junior Max Jackson registered a two-over par round of 72 and finished second individually, helping the Temple men's golf team to a runner-up showing at the Big 5 Invitational on Thursday.
Jackson was one of four Owls to finish in the top 10, with juniors Travis Robertson and Mason Tomé, and sophomore Nicholas Pisarski each tying for ninth.
How It Happened
•Facing difficult scoring conditions, Jackson carded a team-high three birdies on his round and went one-over par 36 on both the front and back nines.
•The second-place finish was the best showing of Jackson's young Temple career, as the Rhode Island native closed in the top five in field scoring for par 3 (E, T-2), par 4 (+3, T-4) and par 5 (-1, T-3) holes.
•Robertson also tied for third in par-5 scoring at one-under par, and Temple led the event at two-under par on par-5 holes.
•The Owls also totaled 59 pars to tie for the tournament lead with La Salle.
•Saint Joseph's earned the team title and George Williamson Jr. was the lone golfer to finish in red numbers, closing with a tournament-best one-under 69.
